Inverell (population 10,000) is the quintessential country town. Inverell people have always taken pride in their community which is reflected in a town of great beauty and order. Inverell is famous for gemstones and that it why it is called "The Sapphire City". It's hard to believe that more than 75% of the world's sapphires come from Inverell.
